Application of the Wave Based Method for the Steady-state Acoustic Response Prediction of a Car Cavity in the Mid-frequency Range

چکیده
The paper discusses the application of the Wave Based Method (WBM) for the steady-state acoustic response prediction of a car cavity up towards the mid-frequency range. After explaining the need for new prediction tools, the mathematical background of the WBM is given. The prediction results are compared with the results obtained by the Finite Element Method (FEM). For validation purposes, both a simple analytical benchmark problem is considered as well as the 3-dimensional problem of the Sound Brick, which is a test setup especially developed for validation experiments. It is demonstrated that the WBM is computationally more efficient than the FEM in both cases so that the practical frequency limitation for the WBM is much higher than for the FEM.

In the automotive industry, vehicle interior acoustics has become an important design criterion. Both legal restrictions and the growing demand for comfort, force the car manufacturers to optimize the vibro-acoustic behaviour of their products. The tendency to minimise the number of physical prototypes and to reduce the overall development cost and time, as well as the high performance of moder...

The design and optimization of nanostructure-based surface acoustic wave (SAW) gas sensor is analyzed based on TiO2 sensing layer and modified electrode dimensions. The sensitivity of the gas sensor depends upon the type of sensing layer used and active surface area obtained by varying the aspect ratio. The performance of the sensor is observed from 0.1ppm to 100ppm concentration of ...

In this study, the method of multiple scales is used to perform a nonlinear vibration analysis of a mechanical system in two cases; with dry and lubricated clearance joints. In the dry contact case, the Lankarani-Nikravesh model is used to represent the contact force between the joined bodies. The surface elasticity is modeled as a nonlinear spring-damper element. Primary resonance is discussed...

The wave based method (WBM) is an efficient deterministic prediction method for the analysis of steady-state acoustic problems. It offers an alternative to the finite element and boundary element method, especially in the mid-frequency range, where these element based methods are impaired by their computational burden. This paper discusses the use of new source formulations in WB models for two...
